For many reasons, there could not have been a better way to introduce Unassuming Collective to the world than to do an interview with Joyce. Poised with a positive and cheerful attitude, few would guess her struggle without inquiring.

On November 30, 2015 Joyce's husband, Ken, lost the battle against pancreatic cancer leaving Joyce to care for their 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 turtles and his impressive collection of screws, hammers, scrap metal, scrap wood, motorcycles and so forth. For many, this situation would be overwhelming to say the least; yet, Joyce continues to work through her grief with admirable strength and is on a new journey to self-discovery.

Along this journey, Joyce seems to have learned what this project aims to illustrate: we all have a story to tell and sometimes the people you would least expect have the stories that can heal you, help you and inspire you.
